OEC publications claim five statewide awards
The Co-op News member magazine, Watts Watt employee magazine and other member communication pieces won statewide awards in the 2017 Oklahoma Communications Contest, hosted by Oklahoma Living magazine.
OEC received Awards of Excellence for Best Layout and Design for the Co-op News, Best Internal Newsletter and Best Annual Report. The newly reimagined new member packet and promotion of OEC’s 80th Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Night received Awards of Merit for Best Creative Communications Piece and Best Marketing Campaign, respectively.
“While our marketing and member relations (MMR) team might be the one that gets the credit, it's truly a team effort — the entire team of 130-plus OEC employees — to ensure our members are taken care of and are kept well-informed,” said Autumn McMahon, manager of marketing and member relations.
Fourteen Oklahoma co-ops submitted over 100 entries into the contest. Representatives from those co-ops (and more) gathered at the annual awards banquet to recognize the work being done by communications departments across the state.
“I am always proud to represent OEC among our peers and share what we are doing with other co-ops, while gaining inspiration at the same time,” said Brianna Wall, editorial and events coordinator. "I find tremendous value in providing relevant information to our members so they can make informed decisions about their energy use while taking advantage of the different programs OEC offers."
The team behind these award-winning marketing and communication efforts includes McMahon and Wall, along with Tory Tedder-Loffland, education and outreach coordinator, Daniel Lofland, energy efficiency and solutions specialist, Randy Harnsberger, key accounts manager, and Preston O’Brien, chief financial officer.
