| Service Location/Meter Base |
For underground services, your service entrance equipment should be located four to six and one-half feet (4' to 6 1/2') above final grade and your electrician will need to install a meter base that meets OEC requirements. Installation must also meet all applicable codes and standards. This base is provided free of charge. However, you or your electrician will need to pick up the meter base at the OEC warehouse.
For overhead services, OEC will install the pole and meter loop. OEC will not set a meter until a disconnect has been mounted below the meter base by you or your electrician. In non-permit areas, you are responsible for contacting OEC's offices when completed. |
| Site Conditions |
The site must be within six inches (6") of final grade before we can begin work. If you have requested underground service, you will need to clear a twelve foot (12') wide path that is free of building materials, brush, trees, shrubs, etc., along the proposed service route to avoid delays and extra charges. Also, your meter base must be installed prior to OEC beginning work.
The Co-op's last step is to backfill our excavations with excavated spoils.
You are responsible for clearing a right of way for service. The right of way must be accessible for crews to gain access for tree trimming and removal in the future.
You are responsible for final restoration of all areas and landscaping disrupted by the installation of OEC's facilities (i.e. ruts or ditch cave-in due to lack of rain). |
| Staking Underground Facilities |
To avoid damage, you must mark (stake) your existing underground facilities such as well, septic system, sprinkler system, any underground wires, buried LPG tanks, piping, or other facilities. These stakes must be apparent when OEC crews arrive to install the service. The Co-op cannot reimburse you for damage to facilities that are not properly marked (staked). Oklahoma One-Call (Call Okie) does NOT locate member's facilities, such as those stated above. |
| Temporary |
If you request a temporary electric service, you are required to set your own overhead pole or underground post with meter base and service as per OEC specifications. Contact OEC's office at (405) 321-2024 for this information. |
| Obstacles |
If additional line work is required to reach your location due to terrain design problems or other unusual circumstances, extra charges may be incurred. These charges will be communicated to you in advance of construction. |
| Easements |
You are responsible for providing or obtaining any easements required to reach your property and for construction of OEC lines on your property. OEC will assist you in this process. However, work will not begin without the required executed easements. |
| Electrical Inspection |
You or your electrician are responsible for obtaining all electrical permits and inspections. Wiring and service entrance equipment must comply with local and state wiring codes. Electrical service entrance inspections must be approved before service connections can be made. |
| Payment |
Most installations are provided free of charge; however, if payment is required, it must be paid in full prior to OEC scheduling the installation of your service. |
| Scheduling |
The standard time-frame to begin a job is two (2) weeks. Before your installation is scheduled, you are required to have the above items completed. After these things have been completed, then your service is placed on the construction schedule.
If you wish to inquire about the scheduling of your service, please contact OEC's office at (405) 321-2024. Leave your name and phone number and an OEC representative will contact you with the information. |
